What if…book recos for the barely literate men on Love is Blind?
Plenty of picture books, rest assured!
Hello!
I have heard many a horror story of how brutal it is out there if you’re someone trying to find a cis hetero man to date in the year 2025, but nothing has made it more apparent than the most recent season of Love is Blind.
Note: Small Love is Blind S8, E1-6 spoilers to follow, but only in the sense of who the main male characters are thus far, and some hints to the asinine shit they’ve said out loud on national television.
There’s nothing particularly wild about this season, which is filled with singles from Minneapolis. If anything, the men all kind of look the same (white) and have very similar energy (milquetoast). But this sea of bleh is what makes it even more insidious, especially in contrast to the women, who have things like personalities and values. For example…
The women are like:
“I have a PhD.”
“I used to both play and coach D1 basketball.”
“I believe that basic human rights are non negotiable.”
“I’m a homeowner.”
“I’ve spent decades working through insurmountable childhood trauma and also, I’m able to financially support myself with my art.”
Meanwhile, the men are like:
“I can’t read.”
At one point, former teacher Lauren earnestly tells some bozo named Dave that she can walk him through some strategies to improve his reading comprehension. I also have some personalized ideas to help these men begin their journey toward any flavor of intellectual/emotional curiosity.

I am vehemently opposed to the use of ‘LOL’ unless a person is actually laughing out loud. This post made an honest LOL out of me.
